Why I (Will) Blog

June 1, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Over the past 8 years, since I first learned what a blog was, I have started a few and not continued them. This is mostly because I really didn’t have much to say. Recently, however, I have wanted an outlet to work through ideas and opinions about my work and research, to share information with others in journalism and academia, and to throw in my two cents regarding issues related to the changing news industry.

I started using Twitter a couple months ago and found that to be a great place to engage with others in discussions and information sharing, but 140 characters just doesn’t cut it for fleshing out real, informed opinions and making oneself clear about them. So… I’m starting this blog.

I plan to write about journalism, the painful reformation of the newspaper industry, academia, my dissertation (of course; I am a grad student), bad television shows I watch, good music I listen to,  research problems, and complaints and frustrations with any or all of the above.

Read if you will; don’t if you won’t. Feel free to comment and discuss.
